On Nov. 8, Natural Restorations will conduct its sixth annual Save Our Saguaros event to replant saguaros in the Tonto National Forest, following the devastation caused by the 2020 Bush Fire. Volunteers will relocate 148 young saguaros, as these cacti do not naturally recover from fire damage. The event, sponsored by Wells Fargo and the National Forest Foundation, promotes community involvement in environmental restoration efforts. Participants will learn the correct planting techniques to ensure the cacti's survival, including positioning them to avoid sunburn. In addition to replanting, Natural Restorations has removed over 150,000 pounds of trash in the last year, highlighting its commitment to desert conservation. Co-founder Nicole Corey noted the therapeutic benefits of outdoor volunteer work for participants. The organization has conducted 141 events since its founding in 2015, with a focus on environmental stewardship and community education. Volunteers express satisfaction in contributing to the health of their local environment while enjoying the peace of nature.
