Mayor Kerry Thomson remarked on the significance of these grants, stating they allow for infrastructure improvements without imposing additional costs on local taxpayers. Among the funded projects, Bloomington will receive $860,940 for modifying curb ramps in the downtown area to comply with ADA standards. Monroe County has also been awarded $418,500 for safety enhancements on Fairfax Road, targeting several high-risk curves. Additionally, the Community Crossings Matching Grant will fund maintenance upgrades along North Walnut Street with a budget of $760,262. The Towns of Ellettsville and Stinesville will benefit from $258,182 and $69,778 respectively for their infrastructure projects.
